Pizza Night! Papa Johns Vegan Pizza Review

It’s Saturday night, it’s takeaway and TV night. Happily, our local Papa Johns has us covered with an expanded vegan range for Veganuary 2020. Our panel of reviewers included two hungry parents and a picky, picky 6 year old. We ordered:

  • A Vegan ‘Works’ pizza with tomato sauce, Vegan Sheese®, jackfruit “pepperoni”, vegan sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, onions and black olives.
  • Vegan Sheese® and Marmite scrolls
  • Cauli ‘Wings’ with hot buffalo dip
  • Cinnamon scrolls

First challenge was to defend the food from the family, who were circling like hungry sharks, for long enough to get a photo. Picture quality was sacrificed in the name of hurrying it up so we could eat.

The Vegan Works pizza was a hit with both adults, but the picky 6 year old struggled with the texture and flavour of the Sheese. She did not like the flavour of the jackfruit pepperoni, because she does not like pepperoni in any form. I enjoyed the pepperoni which has plenty of authentic flavour without the grease of the meat variety.

The Sheese and marmite scrolls were ‘too marmitey’ for the picky one, but went down well with the adults.

The Cauli Wings with buffalo dip were delicious. Not greasy, with a nice texture.

The cinnamon scrolls were a big hit with the whole family, particularly picky kid, who demolished several then ate the icing out of the box.

Overall, very tasty. 4.5/5.
